Earthen Walls

Passive Solar, Eco Showpiece
Old World Cattle Ranch

FOR SALE

This home is currently listed for sale through Patterson Realty; DOWNLOAD the listing flyer or see the listing HERE.

This residence was constructed in 2001 and 2002. All three of the structures -main house, guesthouse and detached garage- are built using the earthen wall technique called PISE (Pneumatically Impacted Stabilized Earth). Very detailed wall forms are constructed and then an earthen mixture of some white and gray cement is shot with gunnite machinery at the forms. This creates an 18″ thick wall with a coarse exterior and a travertine marble-looking interior. Specially formed deep window sills enhance the feeling that this building has been here forever.

Upgraded plumbing and tile treatments compliment the unique cabinetry. A screened-in porch captures the breezes from the ocean view. A hydronic heating system keeps the entire house evenly warm on cold days. No air conditioning is required on even the hottest summer days.
