Jessica Steely  joined Semmes & Co. in 2004 after graduating from CalJessica Indoor Blk 5x7 Poly with a Bachelor’s of Science in Construction Management and a Minor in Sustainability. Her passion for sustainable building techniques attracted her to join this team of like-minded professionals at Semmes & Co. Builders. In 2011, Jessica along with Paul Rose and Tom Moore, purchased the company from its founder, Turko Semmes.  Jessica, now General Manager and Head of Sales, enjoys having the opportunity to connect with people, helping them create their new Custom Home.





Paul Rose (Production Supervisor/HR Manager/Owner) is a native of Paul Rose 5x7California, Paul grew up here on the Central Coast and has been a carpenter since the 1970’s. His construction and woodworking skills have always had a bent toward energy efficiency. Paul helped found the Sustainable Building Council of San Luis Obispo County in order to promote those practices. When not on a job site or at the office, Paul climbs, surfs, kayaks, and generally enjoys the out-of-doors.





Tom Moore (Production Supervisor/ Head of Production/Owner) has been with Semmes & Co. since 1998 and in the construction business since 1978. In his own words: “In my free time I enjoy golf, some surfing when I can find warm water, and exploring with my grandson”.








Turko Semmes (Founder), graduated in 1978 from the Architecture Turko Semmes 5x7Department of Cal Poly State University in Construction Management. He founded Semmes & Co. Builders right out of Cal Poly. Along with a great team, he has helped make Semmes & Co. Builders, Inc. the area’s leading home builder, specializing in energy efficiency and sustainable building techniques. He’s a co-founder of both the California Straw Building Association and SLO Green Build.  After passing the company on to three key employees: Jessica Steely, Paul Rose and Tom Moore in 2011 (and working with them through a three year transition), he sits on the Board and advises on a regular basis.  Now focusing on farming and family at his Red Hawk Ranch and playing music with friends, Turko is happily anticipating his next exciting life adventure.



Margie Berumen (Production Coordinator) comes to Semmes & Co. with aMargie Black Long Sleeve 5x7 strong background in interior and exterior design. Having worked in design and sales, Margie has a strong sense of materials and layout as well as understanding budgets and conveying pricing. Her sense of organization and attention to detail make Margie a valuable asset to the Semmes team. When she’s not helping clients with their dream houses, she enjoys working on her own home.






Jill Haney (Production Coordinator) comes to the Central Coast by way of Memphis, Iowa, Tuscon and Boston. She holds a BA in History from Grinnell College and an MFA in Theatre/Dance from the University of Arizona. This background gives Jill not only an understanding of and an appreciation for continuity, but also an aesthetic eye for space, shape and color. She loves the details involved in bringing a project to fruition. Jill spends her free time reading, cooking, listening to music and eating ice cream with her fiance.






Steven Bishop is a passionate carpenter who loves to build custom, Steven Bishop 5x7sustainable, green homes. When he’s not enjoying time with his family and friends, Steve can be found indulging in all types of outdoor activities including sports and camping.








Ian Bosserman  As a University of Virginia Architectural graduate, Ian brings over 20 years of experience in residential design, development and construction. Born in Hawaii, Ian harkens back to his roots playing ukulele in a Central Coast Hawaiian band.








Bret Campbell  Bret’s background in construction goes back to his teenage years when he started framing and eventually managing crews. After completing his degree at Cal Poly in Architecture and practicing in SLO until the market shifted, he ended up running his own successful sign business for many years before he decided to sell it and get back into the building industry. Bret’s ingenuous understanding of materials combined with his organization and people skills make him an effective and enjoyable member of the team.






Nathan Standridge with his talent in carpentry and project supervision comes Nathan Standridge 5x7to us from his previous home in Oregon. Now he’s enjoying showing his family the joys and scenery of the Central Coast, spending free time taking his kids to play at our local beaches.








Chris Walter brings his smile and positive approach to the projects he Chris Walter 5x7completes. A a savvy, well-versed carpenter Chris also attended UCLA. He loves traveling. Chris is always up for an adventure with his newly wedded wife and their dog, Cooper; be it hiking, camping or utilizing his pilot’s license.
