Four Decades of Groundwork
Founder Turko Semmes created Semmes & Co. Builders out of respect for the planet and the people who share it. Sustainability was essential in his homes and his relationships. Today, our owner-operators maintain the trust, transparency, honest communication, ethics, social responsibility, quality results and good value that have always been at our organization’s core.
A history of building with the future in mind
Semmes & Co. Builders, Inc. was founded in 1978 by Turko Semmes as a small construction company focused on building passive solar homes. By bringing together local craftsmen with the most current construction technologies, he began building the Central Coast’s most unique and energy efficient projects.
Semmes has since grown into a family of over 15 employees, each of whom is dedicated to the highest quality craftsmanship, a service-oriented building process, and the most sustainable building practices. We have completed over 300 custom homes and remodels, and numerous select commercial projects such as small wineries, a private school, and an energy efficient shopping center.
Semmes & Co. has enjoyed watching our employees expand their skills and abilities over the years. We look forward to continuing to grow and provide an even higher level of quality, while expanding our knowledge and commitment to green building.
In July of 2011, Semmes & Co. became an employee-owned company when Paul Rose, Tom Moore and Jessica Steely assumed part ownership and began growing their involvement. Our dream is to expand employee ownership as Turko Semmes moves into an advisory role. With over 193 years collective experience in construction, Semmes & Co. Builders, Inc. is well-qualified to build or remodel your home.
